How to Spruce up Your Living Room This Christmas

As we get closer to the Christmas season, it is a good idea to begin thinking of ways in which we can spruce up our living rooms and help sprinkle them with that Christmas magic. After all, for most people, the living room is where a lot of time will be spent over the festive period. It makes sense to create a space that feels inviting, warm and stylish. With this in mind, this article will be exploring some living room ideas which will hopefully fill you with enough inspiration to inspire some great Christmas room design.

Christmas Themed Print

To give the living room its new look you do not have to change loads. It is attention to detail which can make a difference. For example, have you considered changing your curtains or blinds? You do not have to go as far as having curtains with a Christmas print on them, although that is one thing to consider if you want to go for a slightly less subtle makeover. Some lovely curtains have festive prints such as trees or holly and some great blinds that are available with the same looks. But you could change to plain colours that will complement the overall look of your living room. For example, red or green will look great and are very Christmas friendly colours.

Christmas Wallpaper

Wallpaper is an excellent thing to change around this Christmas. So you could purchase some with a more obvious Christmas print, or something that perhaps has a bit of sparkle or is metallic in some way to help bring on the party feeling! Or once again you can go with a plain colour wallpaper that complements your interior design ideas and adds a warmness to the room. Or, if you have painted walls you could consider a colour replacement for the winter season.

Christmas Cushions

Cushions are a great item to add to the list of decorating ideas this Christmas. Purchase a few Christmas themed ones and have them sit on your sofas. Too many can be overkill though, and you want ones that complement your sofa and fit in with the living room style, regardless of the type of Christmas design they have on their cover. You can find some great Christmas cushions that do not have to be too expensive in most of the top department stores. You may also like to add a nice throw to the sofa. If you previously had a simple, thinner style, why not look into buying a thicker alternative? Many stores do a wide range, including faux fur types that are the ultimate in comfort and cosiness.

Christmas Accessories

Changing up your accessories can also go a long way when it comes to room design. You may have your favourite ornaments on your mantelpiece and shelving units currently, but over the Christmas period you may want to temporarily replace them with some more festive options. For example, picture frames could be exchanged for more glittery versions. The right candle holder and candelabra designs can lead to an entire update of the whole room. Then you have the rest of the ornaments to consider, and Christmas offers so much to select from. Perhaps you’ll find a lovely nativity scene to display or some glittery penguin ornaments. You could even add sentimental value to your decorations by displaying Christmas cards given to you by loved ones in the past.
